Stephen has produced work for a wide variety of clients ranging from computer game giants (Bethesda), technology giants (Nokia Siemens Networks) and sporting giants (Jonny Wilkinson) but sadly no actual giants. He’s shot people in love, in the air, on the beach and on fire (although not at the same time) across over a dozen different countries in locations ranging from the Circle Line to the Arctic Circle. Stephen has also produced live events such as the London Screenwriters’ Festival, and the Super Shorts International Film Festival.
Stephen’s scriptwriting has won Virgin Media Shorts, the Reed Film Competition and IVCA awards; has been nominated at the British Independent Film Awards, Viral Video Awards, LA Movie Awards and long-listed for a BAFTA; and has been championed by Mike Newell, James King, Stephen Fry, the Daily Telegraph and Le Monde. Stephen has written for comedy shows such as ‘Newsrevue’ and been commissioned by BBC Radio 4.
Stephen has taught in a variety of environments, mostly on the topics of film producing and online video. These have included weekend masterclasses such as ‘Seven Step Producer’, ‘Practical Producer’ (both run with Chris Jones) and the Online Video Masterclass. He also acts as a guest tutor at the Met Film School, primarily on the BA Filmmaking and short Producing courses. He has taught one-off events for the BFI, the British Council, and at numerous film festivals.
In addition to his own projects Stephen also acts as a Consultant Producer, advising on the development and distribution of feature films and all aspects of short films. Stephen has written for Moviescope magazine on issues relating to Producing and was Editor In Chief of ‘Short Cuts’ magazine. In the past Stephen has been a member of the Executive Committee of the New Producer’s Alliance.
